Guests from our online Alpha Course last Wednesday watched a short video where people from all walks of life where asked this question and the answers were very telling. Many of the respondents admitted to searching for the answer in their own way and ultimately giving up or gathering together bits of different theology and making it into something that "feels" right. We can relate to this so well, because in our younger days, thats the conclusion we came to. No one gave us an opportunity to "study the evidence"on Christianity in a safe environment.
Francis Collins, one of the worlds leading experts on the human genome project stated in the Alpha Video that he grew up in a secular home and was generally uninterested in anything to do with faith. During his internship as a doctor, he recalls that a patient was having a particular bad episode of pain and afterwards shared with him that it was her faith that helped her through. She then turned to him and asked, "What do you believe doctor"? It was at that moment that he realized that he hadn't examined the evidence. He said, "and I was supposed to be a scientist"
The Alpha Course allows people to examine the evidence, and you are invited to attend on Wednesday evening. 6.00pm Pacific time. Hey, if you like this blog, you can read others here and subscribe to follow us on our travels here.
